Bringing real-world careers into your classroom
Romodels helps primary schools introduce learners to diverse, future-focused careers through real people, real stories and ready-to-use classroom resources.
Our bilingual digital platform resources are rooted in the Curriculum for Wales and designed to make career learning easy to deliver and engaging for learners. Teachers can choose a Romodel, access the resources and bring meaningful career conversations into the classroom to inspire their learners.

Our unique approach
Career learning that feels relevant, practical and exciting.
Romodels is designed to raise learner aspirations and self-confidence and enhance teacher confidence to incorporate careers into their lessons.
Rather than asking children to think about jobs in the abstract, Romodels gives them tangible stories and hands-on activities they can connect with. Learners are encouraged to explore, ask questions and see how their own interests, strengths and experiences could link to future possibilities.
Our approach follows three simple steps:

1
Discover
Learners are introduced to Romodels from a wide range of backgrounds, communities and industries, helping them discover careers they may not have seen, heard of or considered before.
These real-life stories support schools to challenge stereotypes, broaden learners’ understanding of the world of work and open up conversations about identity, aspiration and future possibilities. Pupils begin to recognise how their own interests, strengths and experiences can connect to different career pathways.
Romodels is designed to sit naturally within the Curriculum for Wales. The stories can support learning across the Areas of Learning and Experience, helping teachers make meaningful links between careers, skills and the wider curriculum.
2
Experience
Romodels turns career learning into something pupils can actively explore.
Through immersive, cross-curricular missions, learners investigate real-world challenges linked to different careers and sectors. These activities give pupils opportunities to develop knowledge, skills and understanding across all six AoLEs.
Teachers can shape the missions around their learners, school themes, progression steps and curriculum priorities. This gives schools the flexibility to use Romodels as part of topic work, enquiry-led learning, skills development or wider work around aspiration and equity.
The missions also support the four purposes by helping learners become ambitious and capable, enterprising and creative, ethical and informed, and healthy and confident as they explore the world beyond the classroom.

3
Believe
Career learning has the most impact when learners can connect it to themselves.
Through “How to Become…” resources, pupils are encouraged to think about their own strengths, interests, values and skills. They begin to see how what they enjoy now and what they are learning in school, could link to future pathways.
This stage supports learner progression by encouraging reflection, confidence and self-understanding. It helps pupils recognise the skills they are already building and consider how those skills may be useful in different contexts.
The aim is to challenge limiting beliefs early, widen learners’ sense of what is possible and help every child see that they can belong in a range of careers and futures.

Meet our Romodels
Our Romodels are real people working in careers across Wales and beyond, all from different backgrounds and with interesting and inspiring stories for learners to engage with so they discover careers they may never have heard of before.
Whether pupils are meeting Harry Wilson, Wales’ youngest-ever senior international footballer, Maire Gorman, a space weather forecaster protecting Earth’s technology, or Emily Jones, an award-winning children’s book illustrator, each Romodel helps them see how different interests can grow into exciting careers.
We will continue to add new and exciting Romodels to our platform meaning schools can keep returning to fresh, relevant examples that reflect the changing world of work and the many different routes children could take.
